Book Launch: October 6, "“Euroscepticism in Small EU Member States"

The Latvian Institute of International Affairs in cooperation with Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung launches its latest publication “Euroscepticism in Small EU Member States”. The book will be presented in a public event on 6 October 2016 from 15.00-16.30 at the EU House (28 Aspazijas Blvd, Riga, 2nd floor).

A series of possible breaking points that destabilize the European house have emerged: the economic imbalances, the questioning of common European values, even the suspension of the rule of law and, not least, rising nationalism. How after twelve years of EU membership Latvia sees the scenario? What mood is observed in other small EU Member States? And is there a reason to talk about the collapse of the EU?

All these issues will be discussed in detail by the authors of the book “Euroscepticism in Small EU Member States” and other area professionals. Opening remarks will be provided by Lolita Čigāne - Chairperson of the European Affairs Committee, Parliament of Latvia. The following discussion panel will feature: Andris Kužnieks – Head of the Policy Department, European Commission Representation in Latvia; Isabel Estrada Carvalhais – Professor at the University of Minho; Guido Lessing – research assistant at Centre D’études et de Recherches Européennes Robert Schuman (CERE); Aldis Austers – Research Fellow at the Latvian Institute of International Affairs (LIIA). The discussion will be moderated by Kārlis Bukovskis – Deputy Director of LIIA.

Join us on October 6 and mark the possible future scenarios with us.
